Standard Laboratory Testing, its Significance and Interpretation

The NCNM is pleased to welcome Dr. Wayne R. Cichowicz, D.N., D.A.A.P.M., F.A.B.S., back to the NCNM to offer a course covering standard laboratory testing, its significance and interpretation. It will also cover proper treatment protocols for various nutrient deficiencies as well as the therapeutic use of herbs.

The seminar will also present the determination of health and disease and organ system dysfunction assessment by determining the changes found in a patient's blood profile. Dr. Cichowicz will cover not only individual blood segment changes, but also the combination of changes which may appear normal but are in fact predictors of subtle changes in maintenance of health and prevention of disease utilizing nutrients, supplements and nutriceuticals.

Hypnosis as an Adjunct for the Health Care Practitioner (Basic), Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21, 2011 - 12 CEU's

Join experienced Health Care Practitioner, Hypnotist and Educator Dr. Tony Zayner, D.N., L.Ac, MSOM, MSEd, for a two-day seminar examining the use of hypnosis as an adjunctive tool for your health care practice.

Day 1 - Saturday, August 20, 2011: Introduction to the art, history and theory of hypnosis, including modern applications. Video demonstrations.

Day 2 - Sunday, August 21, 2011: Review of Day 1, practice of theoretical information, different hypnosis styles and techniques.

Bernard "Tony" Zayner has been a martial artist and student of Chinese philosophy and culture for over 40 years. He has owned a few successful schools of martial arts and was the 1988/1989 undefeated U.S. National Tai Chi Push Hands champion and went to China as a U.S. team member for three successive international tournaments. In 1989, he moved to Taiwan to work for the Chinese government as a consultant for six government ministries and to teach at three of its premier universities. In Asia, he studied Mandarin, Chinese Medicine, Thai Massage, painting, calligraphy, Tai Chi and Chinese culture. He returned to Chicago in 2000 to complete his studies in clinical massage, Oriental Medicine, clinical hypnosis and Naprapathy. He is currently a professor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and the National College of Naprapathic Medicine. He has also founded the Shu Family School of Tai Chi Ch'uan and the Asian Bodywork Club.

Advanced Hypnosis for Health Care Practitioners, Saturday and Sunday, August 27 and 28, 2011 - 12 CEU's

Day 1 - Saturday, August 27, 2011: Review and Practice of Techniques learned in the Basic class. Various inductions: Instantaneous, Rapid, Progressive (Verbal and Non-verbal). Deepening techniques (Ex. Fractionation).

Day 2 - Sunday, August 28, 2011: Hypnotic analgesia for clinical use. Glove anesthesia. Techniques of Color / Light Therapy. Freeing smokers from their addiction. Intro to Parts Therapy.

Thai Table Massage II (Prone)
7-week Series, Mondays, 2/07/2011 through 3/21/2011 - 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. - 21 CEU’s

This is the second half of the NCNM Advanced Thai Table Massage CEU series. Prone techniques will be taught six Monday evenings (6:00-9:00) starting Monday, February 7, 2011 with a 7th session for review on March 21, 2011.

This series will focus on clients who complain of “Desk Syndrome.” The stretches in this protocol pull the body into extension-type postures and help alleviate pain and discomfort caused by long hours of desk work. Take the time to learn this skill and your clients will be very grateful.

Understanding Acupressure and Meridian Therapy

The course will include pain relief through the use of specific points. Many conditions will be discussed. The use of tools will be explained and demonstrated. Also, Chinese nutritional protocols for seasonal changes will be discussed.

Thai Table Massage I (Supine)
10-week Series, began Sunday, 9/26/10 - 40 CEU’s

Thai Massage is a traditional healing method that has been practiced in Thailand for centuries. With the incorporation of Acupressure, meridian energy work (sen lines) and Yoga-like stretching, Thai Massage on the table has a more profound effect on the body and improves circulation, flexibility and muscle tone. As in other massage methods, Thai is used to stimulate the body’s natural healing process, release stagnated blood and Qi, and take a role in repairing damaged tissues.

Learn approx. 200 techniques plus variations and bring new life to your career. The ten week concept allows time to practice and remember the techniques. This would be a great addition to any massage, physical therapy, or manual medicine practice.

Time: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.; Sunday evenings beginning September 26, 2010 through December 5, 2010.

The Body/Mind Connection
Saturday, October 16, 2010, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - 6 CEU’s

This seminar, offered by Clive Hazell, Ph.D., will focus on various personality types and issues specific to health and medical care.

Participants will complete a MBTI (Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator) so that they can see their strengths and vulnerabilities in working with patients.

Discussion will focus on the issues, developmental impasses and traumas that often surface in working with the body.

Material on how group and organizational processed can manifest in the body as well as material on narcissism and psychosomatic problems will also be presented.

Advanced Thai Table Massage, Phase II

This is the second half of the NCNM Advanced Thai Table Massage CEU series. Prone techniques will be six Sunday evenings (5:30-9:30) starting Sunday February 21, 2010 through March 28, 2010, and sidelying will begin on April 4, 2010 and continue for 4 successive Sunday evenings until April 25, 2010. The total cost for all 10 sessions will be $495. Attendees may also decide to take the Prone portion only (6 classes) for $350 or the Sidelying sessions for only $250 (4 classes). Students or interested parties not wanting CEU certificates may attend the whole series for $250.

Sidelying / Pregnancy protocols are most appreciated by pregnant women and those who have back problems and cannot lie on their backs for long without tremendous pain. Presenter Profiles:

Dr. Carlos Boileve is currently the Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, and Symptomology and Lab Interpretation instructor at the National College of Naprapathic Medicine since 2007. He has received Presidential Awards from the Illinois Chiropractic Society 2 years in a row for providing “Education to the Profession.” He has been in private practice for close to 30 years, and currently maintains his practice in Highwood, IL.

Clive Hazell, Ph.D. earned his doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University in 1982. He is a professor at DeVry University, and holds adjunct appointments at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dr. Hazell is a nationally certified counselor and has been in private practice for 26 years. In addition, he as written several books pertaining to psychology and the social sciences and regularly publishes articles in psychology journals.

Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar completed his M.D. at Kaunas Medical Academy, Lithuania. He also received his post graduate Residency certification of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Kaunas Medical Academy, Lithuania. Later he took fellowship in psychotherapy. He graduated from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. Currently, Dr. Dekhtyar is the Neuroscience instructor at the National College of Naprapathic Medicine, and has been in private practice for twenty years. Dr. Dekhtyar studied Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) for fifteen years; he is the founder and president of Academy NLP, and a trainer of NLP.
