THE
CAUSES OF PAIN
The cause of back pain is frequently a structural imbalance which may radiate
to other parts of the body. This imbalance is usually caused by poor
posture, stress, accidents, trauma, aging or simply daily wear and tear
on the ligaments, tendons and muscles which connect the skeletal frame
together. When injuries to these connective tissues heal, scar tissues
form which lack the elasticity and suppleness of healthy tissues. An
escalating cycle of stiffness and tension ensues until pinched nerves
send the back into spasms of acute pain. Sometimes the symptoms are
less dramatic, robbing the body of vigor over a long period of time.
The
following symptoms may manifest:
Nutritional
Imbalance is another common cause of pain and fatigue. Poor eating habits,
toxins in our food and pollutants in the environment may overwhelm the
body's immune system, leaving it prone to strain and aching for help.
NAPRAPATHIC
TREATMENTS
Patients who seek Naprapathic treatments for the relief of pain, stress
or fatigue are in for a very gratifying experience. First, time is taken
to get to know the patient as a unique individual and a comprehensive
case history is recorded. This is followed by a thorough spinal examination
where tension and pain findings are recorded. Information from both
of these sources is integrated into a treatment plan which is as unique
as the patient himself. Finally the therapy is gently administered to
enhance relaxation and stretch the specific connective tissues which
are irritating the nervous system.
Nutritional
and postural counseling, therapeutic exercise and modalities such as
ultrasound, electric muscle stimulation, heat or cold therapy, as appropriate,
may enhance the results. When equilibrium is restored, there is a profound
sense of relief relaxation and renewal.
