Understanding Workers’ Compensation
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - 4 CEU’s
Instructor: Carlos Boileve, D.C.
The Workers’ Compensation seminar will address the Act itself, both as originally written and with reforms. Discussions will focus on billings and denials, delays of payment, employer notification, utilization reviews, Medical Fee Schedule, and Balance Billing. Other topics within the Act will also be discussed. Treatment regimes and nutritional components will be included.
Personal Injury
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - 4 CEU’s

The Personal Injury seminar will cover the biomechanics of injuries occurring in auto collisions (primarily those involving low-speed rear impact), liens and their usage, adjudications and how to avoid them, MedPay, settlements and calculating your correct portion, statute of limitations, fraud and how to avoid it, understanding the Common Fund Doctrine, Dead Man’s Act, and filing an interpleader. Treatment regimes and nutritional components will be included. |
Understanding Your Patient: A developmental psychology view - 8 CEU’s
Instructor: Paul Snyder, Ed.D.
Patient Psychology is based on a Developmental Psychology framework. The seminar includes how to relate to the needs of patients who are in different age groups. The seminar will give valuable insight into the issues faced by patients from birth to the senior years. All 8 stages of life are explained and discussed. The seminar offers advice on how to make patients comfortable to be able to open effective lines of communication and gain patient trust.

The 9/17/2008 seminar will include a 1-hour break for lunch. Lunch will not be provided by NCNM. There are number of fast-food and casual dining restaurants within walking distance.

Presenter Profiles:
Dr. Carlos Boileve, a chiropractic physician since 1980, has been ingrained in Personal Injury areas for over 15 years; through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego, multiple crash studies of whiplash, and as the Secretary of the Center for Research into Automotive Safety and Health (C.R.A.S.H.). In addition, he has been in the Workers’ Compensation arena for over 25 years and is bringing his knowledge to your office through these two continuing education seminars. Dr. Boileve is currently the 1st Vice President of the Illinois Chiropractic Society, and the columnist in “Personal Injury and Workers’ Compensation” matters for the Illinois Chiropractic Society’s “Journal.”
Dr. Paul Snyder studied at Cornerstone University, St. Mary’s College and Grand Valley State University where he earned his graduate degrees. Dr. Snyder teaches a specialized Patient Psychology class and seminars relating to understanding your patients’ needs. He also teaches Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology and conducts education seminars on utilizing multiple intelligences in your teaching. |
